How to eat well in Auckland

So I was in Auckland for 10 days and managed to eat out for most of them, I barely scratched the surface regarding food but here are a few places I tried and enjoyed.

I had three Kiwi Burgers whilst in Auckland and the best one at the Top of the list would be Fokker Bros. I had ‘The Kiwi Black’. It consists of Freshly ground beef, Mild cheese, egg, beetroot, lettuce, tomato, Fokker sauce, kiwifruit relish & pickled red onions on a charcoal bun. It is definitely a 5star burger and would definitely have it again.

Since the 1860’s England has been producing the world’s best fish and chips, it’s a national institution. Few can resist the mouthwatering combination of moist white fish in a golden crispy batter, served with a portion of hot fluffy chips. With that on hand ‘Degree Gastrobar‘ on the Harbour in Auckland do a really nice Fish and Chips, you can choose to have the fish grilled or beer battered, they come with an accompaniment of crinkle cut fries, green salad and tartare sauce, not the same as back home but still a good effort.

So on a Friday night in Auckland there is a Night Market opposite Nomads Backpackers on Fort Street selling all types of Asian street food, from mussels to dumplings and the whole area smells like heaven. I was unfortunately pretty full after eating a big meal earlier in the day but as it was my last night in Auckland I thought it rude not too. I bought my self an Oreo Bubble Waffle Ice Cream and it was so good, they make the waffles and ice cream in front of you and then add the various toppings.

So I was wandering around looking for somewhere I could eat that wasn’t involving too many carbohydrates as I’ve been eating a lot of bread recently. Istanbul Shawarma located on Queens Street was really a really nice surprise, now they do all sorts including halal meals and no carb meals along with burgers etc. So I chose to have the ‘Lamb Satay Souvlaki’ Its Char grilled spicy lamb satay with salad and sauces. This meal was so good I wished I had found this place sooner, it’s full of flavour and definitely one of the top 5 meals I ate in Auckland.

So if you’re missing the UK and fancy a Full English then head to one of the many  ‘Hollywood Bakery’ cafes, they do a great breakfast minus the sausage, the sausage is not a real sausage and doesn’t taste too good. But apart from that its super nice I would and definitely recommend it.

The best food I ate was the Kiwi Burger and the Fish and Chips, these were both on the Harbour so if you want good food, head to the Harbour.

The only think I like better than talking about Food is eating.
